Paperback. Condition: Good. Original issue. Plastic comb bound, 7 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches, iv + 61 pp (single sided) , illustrated with black and white single panel cartoons. Softcover, good. Some soil, foxing and drop marks on covers, front cover has previous owner's signature, creased along length and upper corner, 1/2 inch tear on rear cover, corners bumped. Internally, previous owner's name and address on first free front endpaper, bit of foxing there, paper lightly age yellowed, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked. Humorous account of the doings of the men of the Navy and Marine Corps who served in the Solomons Islands from August to December, 1942, including camp life, combat, and so forth. "The most significant of the Allied Forces' operations against the Japanese Imperial Forces was launched on August 7, 1942, with simultaneous naval bombardments and amphibious landings on the Florida Islands at Tulagi[12] and Red Beach on Guadalcanal." Contains 61 full-page single-panel cartoons by Corporal Charles J. Hedinger, who served with the Marines in the South Pacific during World War II. A humorous and realistic picture of Marine life in the South Pacific during the war, with specific observations of Tulagi Harbor in 1942.
