Add to basketFirst edition, first printing; 8vo; frontispiece; publisher's cloth, a little rubbed and darkened at extremities, dust-jacket with design by F.E. Warren, correctly priced $2.00 and listing other new titles published in 1928, a remarkably fine example. A stunning copy of this detective fiction title, introducing the character Sir John Saumarez; this edition, published by the somewhat obscure Cosmopolitan Book Corporation, seems to predate the first UK edition published by Hodder & Stoughton. In 1930 the book was adapted into two films: Murder! and a German-language version Mary, both of which were directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
