With this exception, collated, complete.A graphic historical record of Paris in the aftermath of the 1871 Paris Commune, documenting the destruction of key monuments and districts during the incendiarism of May 1871, with written commentary on events and sites. The Commune"s deliberate fires destroyed the Tuileries Palace, Hôtel de Ville, Cour des Comptes, Ministry of Finance, and sections of Rue de Rivoli. In the publisher's original cloth binding.Externally, smart. Fading to extremities. The odd handling mark and spot of damp staining to boards. Cloth to the spine rubbed and slightly frayed with joints cracked; the front board is loosened but remains attached. Slight loss to head of spine. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in slight loss to cloth. Internally, the binding is somewhat loose overall, the text block being more secure than the plate mounts. Lacking one plate. A few small closed tears to hinges, and several plates are loosened but still generally holding. Pages generally bright and clean if slightly age toned with light scattered spotting, heavier to first and last few leaves and fore edge. Good. book.
