A Carrington's ?open' books that was probably translated by Hugues Rebell ( p-37 Peter Mendes ? Clandestine Erotic Fiction in English 1800-1930, 1993) and one that retained '.the sadomasochism but expurgating all explicit sexual content ( op cit). Carrington and his circle considered it to be a ?classic' (op cit) of English flagellation literature and therefore worthy of translation and re-publishing (ibid). 218996.
