Fourth edition, tenth thousand. 60pp., a frontispiece, 3 other full-page black and white illustrations and other illustration in the text. Written by American actor and songwriter James Dyrenforth in collaboration with British scriptwriter and lyricist Max Kester, this amusing political parody of Lewis Carroll's classic story was originally broadcast on the BBC in October 1939. In this work, a caricature of Adolf Hitler finds himself making many mistakes and fumbling about foolishly, and was intended to present Hitler as a fool who deserved true justice of the law. Revisions and additions have been carried out, and the book is illustrated with cartoons by Norman Mansbridge. The book is bound in the original cream paper covered boards with a red spine, black titling on the spine and red titling with a black illustration on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with a small stain near the top spine corner of the front board and bumping with a little damage at the top of the spine. The contents are tight and clean with partial browning and light foxing to the free endpapers. There is no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear and some soiling and the spine and back of the wrapper are browned. A scrape has caused hole in the back of the wrapper and the top edge is creased with small tears and pieces missing. There are a few small tears on the edges with a larger tear of about 1 1/2" on the top rear edge and a triangular piece measuring about 1 1/2" x 2" is missing from near the spine corner of the top rear edge.
