Es sind Masken, die von primitiven Kulturen und exotischen Kulten sprechen, die magische Rituale und tönerne Trophäen, Tierköpfe und Menschenköpfe in einem Dschungel schwer entzifferbarer Figurationen s…uggerieren. Alles scheint Maske geworden, erstarrte Form, Zeichen, Chiffre, mit harten Konturen, verfestigt, verkrustet, und wir wissen nicht, ob sich noch Leben dahinter verbirgt. Sollen wir diesen unter vielfältigen Masken versteckten Formen Namen geben, dann können wir sie versuchsweise als Fragmente von Säulen, Tempeln, heidnischen Altären, als Trümmer archaischer Skulpturen und Idole benennen, und auch Mondsichel und Vegetationsformen begegnen uns als Idol, als Fetisch, als magisches Objekt. Wir können sie aber auch einfach als Kulturschlacke, als Relikte uns fremdgewordener Kulturen ansprechen, als den Müll abgelebter Formen. So liegen diese zerborstenen Säulen, diese zerbrochenen Idole, diese versteinerten Masken in der Bildebene: als warteten sie auf das große Beben, die erlösende Lava.
