After Figrelius' death, the king bought his book collection for the universtity library of Lund, where, with 6,000 volumes, it forms a core part. This work on Roman statues is considered to be the first art historical treatise printed in Sweden. Figrelius était professeur d'histoire dans cette université et Scheffer, originaire de Strasbourg y avait été appelé par la reine Christine comme professeur de rhétorique. Joints starting but binding solid. Boards faded in parts and generally blotchy. Corners bumped. Handwritten note with table-of-contents pasted onto front pastedown, which also contains ink numberings and dedications. Loss of paper with some loss of text in lower margin on p. 7. Some remaining deckle-edges with corresponding loss of paper, for example on p. 61 in lower margin and on p. 295 in outer margin. Slight soiling on pp. 196-97 and a few minor soil stains on p. 245 in lower margin. Last two unpaginated leaves with mirror printing, which makes the text somewhat difficult to read, and dampstains in lower margin. These continue up until p. 18 in the second work, which also contains occasional minor spotting. With an unidentified gilt armorial bookstamp, the bookplate of Esaias Tegnér the younger and a dedication, "Gċva till Elof Hellquist frċn Es.
