Has been stored in a damp place at some stage causing damage to front cover which has been restored with front being rebacked with original laid over, name inside front, title page has damage with photocopy tipped in front, card slipped in to precut corners in pages, surface damage to the Roebuck & the Hare at Group 1 Mammals; The Roller at Group 2 Forest Animals; The Gull at Group 3 Coast & Sea Animals; The Wagtail (not present) at Group 15 Singing Birds. Otherwise some edge toning and discolouration. Appears to be ex library with 3 cancel stamps internally but no other markings noticed. Overweight. Size: Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall.

Folio, containing 30 loose color plates with 4 page text insert, comprised of title page, table of contents and 1 page introduction. Large cloth portfolio with cloth ties; design of a beetle in green on the front board. Title page with similar, but larger engraving of a beetle. 30 large color lithographs (17.5 inches tall). Some light soiling to the title page and the first plate's edges. Some toning and edge wear to some of the plates. Light soiling to the boards; one cloth tie mostly of 6) missing. Wilhelm Richard Paul Flanderky (1872 - 1937) was a German painter and scientific illustrator. Other works include Sealife, and Brehm's Animal Life.
