"An seinen Verleger Friedrich Wilmans (1764-1830). "Ich habe bereits zweimal an Sie geschrieben, um Ihnen die 2te, durchaus veränderte u. vermehrte Auflage meiner Gedichte anzubieten. Der Literaturkritiker Menzel charakterisierte den Schreiber treffend mit folgenden Worten: "Wieland's geistvollster Nachahmer in Wien [?] Er schrieb Gedichte, Schauspiele, Erzählungen und Romane, die alle den Weltmann verrathen, der an die leichtesten Sitten gewöhnt ist." ?
