Issued in conjunction with the Louis Vuitton Cup Trials to determine the finalists for the 2000 America's Cup yacht race, Visionaire assembled teams of artists, photographers and image makers from the seven participating countries. Six contributors each from the U.S., Australia, France, Italy, Japan, Spain and Switzerland produced an image that occupies one side of each of the enclosed blocks; the sixteen cubes placed in the correct configuration form one of the six different images. The six French contributors represented here are Karl Lagerfeld, Serge Lutens, M/M, Pierre Joseph, Richard Fauguet, and Guy Limone. These cubes, along with a booklet of all forty-two images are packaged inside a silk-screened Lucite case created for Visionaire by Louis Vuitton. The contents, with offsetting to the endpapers and to the page facing the half title from a loosely laid in Martin Harvey-related newspaper clipping, and with a previous owner's inscription to the front pastedown, are otherwise clean throughout. Signed and dated by John Martin Harvey (1863-1944) in black ink on the front free endpaper. Martin Harvey was an actor, stage manager and director who started his career in Henry Irving's Lyceum Theatre company in the late 1800s. G. Wodehouse, Edgar Wallace and John Buchan parody. Three girls cover the same plot 'Given the Same Context' in the styles of these writers, each about 500 words and all accomplished and amusing. Slight wear at yapped edges, very slight fading else sound clean very good with clean text. Very scarce - unkown to any library. Clovelly-Kepplestone was a private boarding school for girls in Eastbourne, Sussex. It flourished from 1908 until 1934 and was familiarly known to staff and pupils as "Clo-Kepp". There is a very comprehensive piece on it at Wikipedia. The annual school magazine of which we have the 1930 issue has a frontis of the charismatic Miss Frances Browne the 'principal' of the school. The magazine is of a high order full of news of old girls and poetry, essays and humour from past and present Clo-Keppians.
