Laid in is a facsimile of a postcard Roberts sent to the wife of the original owner, who apparently asked for an autographed book. Roberts states that he'd… be happy to sign a few of his bookplates which the original owner of this copy could then affix to his books. Roberts' inscription reads - "For Herman Paul Riess, Best Wishes, Kenneth Roberts" Riess (1904-1978) was a resident of Frederick County, Maryland. Blue cloth with titling in gilt. 836pp. Square tight binding. Clean interior. Illustrated map endpapers. Mild wear to binding. Dust jacket with mild rubbing and moderate edge wear, including chips and closed tears, mainly to spine. Jacket with moderate soiling. Presents handsomely in archival mylar. Signed.
