Die Christoph & Unmack AG produzierte von hier aus unter anderem private und kommunale Wohnhäuser sowie öffentliche Bauten für Kunden auf der ganzen Welt und arbeitete mit namhaften Architekten wie Hans Scharoun, Henry van de Velde, Albinmüller oder Hans Poelzig zusammen. Konrad Wachsmann, der einige Jahre Chefarchitekt der Firma war, hat sich als Pionier des industriellen Bauens weltweit einen Namen gemacht. Das von ihm entworfene Direktorenwohnhaus in Niesky, 1927 im Stil der Klassischen Moderne errichtet, gilt als besonderes Zeugnis der industrialisierten, vorgefertigten Holzbauweise. Es wurde denkmalgerecht saniert und 2014 als 'Forum Konrad-Wachsmann-Haus Niesky - Information, Austausch, Erlebnis Holzhausbau' wiedereröffnet. Die Dauerausstellung 'Holzbauten der Moderne' gibt einen Einblick in die Entwicklung des industrialisierten Holzhausbaus.
