Softcover. Condition: Sehr gut. 1. Auflage.

There is more than one issue of this book; the Zurich issue should be compared to this Basel edition. [Translated as: "Labram's works are extraordinarily faithful, also technically successful and even artistically not unrefined 'portraits after nature'. The plant pictures in particular reproduce the habitus and characteristic details of the originals with unsurpassable certainty and are masterpieces in their own right. "] â" Brun, Schweiz, Kunstlerlexikon, Bd. 2, S. 212. / Jonas David Labram (born Labran) was a Swiss botanical illustrator and naturalist. He also made entomological illustrations. He discovered several new plants in the Basel region that were included in Carl Friedrich Hagenbach's (1771â"1849) flora of the region. Originally intended to be published in two volumes, each consisting of 10 Hefte (fascicules) (each with 8 plates and 8 leaves of descriptive text), however the final part of the second volume was never published. Of the 19 published Hefte, we offer here 16 (1-14, 17, 18), with 128 (of 152) mostly hand-coloured plates. Co-authored by two Swiss naturalists, Jonas David Labram (1785-1852), a botanical and entomological artist, and Ludwig Imhoff (1801-1868) a physician and zoologist.
