Supunha-se que ou não chegara a imprimir-se nas oficinas gráficas da Biblioteca Nacional, ou que tinha sido destruída. O certo, porém, é que a tradução se imprimiu mesmo, mas não já o prefácio, cujo original, se Cortesão o escreveu até ao começo de 1927, não aparece. Assim, os sete cadernos totalizando 112 páginas da tradução completa jazeram empacotados todos estes anos, isto é, desde que, na sequência da malograda primeira revolução contra a ditadura militar, em Fevereiro de 1927, Cortesão, que nela participara, foi demitido de director da Biblioteca Nacional.
