(Paris, 1835) ; 1 vol. in-4 (26 x 20 cm), pp. 95-116, 1 planche h.t., broché, couverture muette moderne (papier marbré), quelques petites rousseurs marginales, très bon état. Extrait stricto sensu d'un volume des Mémoires de l'Académie royale de médecine ayant été dérelié (ce mémoire na pas fait l'objet d'un tirage à part). Ce mémoire de 22 pages est novateur et fut très remarqué. Lauth a voulu traiter "quelques points controversés, peu appréciés ou ignorés". Il décrit la membrane fibro-élastique du larynx à laquelle son nom fut attaché, et lui assigne un rôle dans la phonation, à savoir "produire des mouvements passifs, par son retrait, toutes les fois quil a été distendu par les contractions actives des muscles" et aussi "renforcer le son par ses vibrations, comme le ferait la table d'un violon, et comme le font les cartilages laryngiens". Ernest-Alexandre Lauth (1803-1837), fils de l'anatomiste Thomas Lauth, fut chef de travaux anatomiques puis professeur de physiologie à la Faculté de médecine de Strasbourg. Il décéda prématurément à l'âge de 34 ans.
