Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. Uniquely illustrated throughout with 4 boxing "flicker" movement sequences [where the reader/viewer splays or fans the pages to create the illusion of moving pictures] (illustrator). 1st Edition. A rare survival: a square-format, First Edition hardback from 1937 which, creates the novelty of illusion of movement (Patented), through a 'flicker' action, for four boxing techniques e.g. Left lead to chin; parrying left counter; bringing over right to jaw and lending left to the body. Six Chapters of accompanying text. Of its time, the book is aimed at boys and young men - not for fame and fortune but for playing the game for the game's sake and putting fair play and sportsmanship first. Red linen boards (just very minor wear to corner [points) with black titling, perfectly clean throughout with no inscription. A York bookseller's label. 20% price reduction applied.
