Published in 1908, this book provides a comprehensive exploration of Midhat Pasha's pivotal role in the Ottoman Empire, chronicling his reformist initiatives, political struggles, exile, and eventual execution. Drawing on private documents and personal recollections, Ali Haydar Midhat Bey crafts a vivid account of his father's life and the turbulent socio-political climate of 19th-century Turkey. The biography highlights Midhat Pasha's efforts to modernize the Ottoman administration, his instrumental role in drafting the empire's first constitution, and his tenure as Grand Vizier.
