Child is meant to spin the pieces and line them up to complete the full picture. This one is in very nice shape with one corner bend. Original box is included in good condition, although interlocking flap is missing and a gift inscription on box. Ads for other Whirly Pics puzzles on box. No date, but late 40s to early 50s. Puzzle image depicting young girl on a carousel horse.

This one is based on a moveable with published in 1906. Staple bound, original would have been stitched bound, The card opens out with six horizontal strips of paper which can be opened out to form different funny animals wearing different costumes. The paper used would have been different as well. The front does have a piece missing and a light fold in lower right corner. Still a nice example of a moveable. Size 20.5 x 15.5cm (8 x 6 inches).

Original white printed paper-covered lidded box (7.5x11x4cm) containing ten (of twelve) unused die-cut, folded and moveable bridge party invitations (ca. 6x10cm) with accompanying envelopes (6.5x10cm -- eleven of twelve present). Light dust-soil to box, the die-cut portion on one card creased, else a Very Good example, though sadly not quite complete. Sweet and saucy collection of bridge party invitations depicting a group of four stylish blond women seated at a table, the tablecloth serving as a moveable flap which, when lifted, displays the women's bare and shapely legs and ankles.

Large business card measuring 4 7/8 x 3 1/2 inches. Printed on pink paper, it advertises Pitcher and E. E. Pomeroy (a jeweler), both of Lewiston. There is a window on the right and there is another card attached via a brad on the back of the pink card. Above the window we read "Our Next President" and below we read "If Not Your Choice Turn the Bottom Card Around." A portrait of Jas. A. Garfield is in the window but if one turns the rear card around the portrait is of his adversary W. S. Hancock. There are further printed ads on the rear card. Some aging but a very good example of this clever form of advertising.

These are manipulated through paper tabs toward the bottom of the illustration. The particular craftsmanship of this volume lies in the multiple movables per single tab. The book features advertisements for other Dean & Son works as endpapers. Bound in original pictorial paper covered card wrappers. These are a little chipped around the edges and lower corners heavily worn. Eight moveables as follows: Old Mother Hubbard went to the Cupboard: Working order but does have repairs on verso, sellotape has been used to repair it. There is also a 1cm tear near the tab; She went to the Bakers : Working order. 1.5cm Tear by tab; She went to the Undertakers Missing pieces and a dogs head has been crudely drawn. The moveable has been attempted to work with card.Sellotape used again on verso.; She went to the Tavern Working order She went to the Hatters Trying to work . Heavy card has been stuck onto the original tab which is still there. I suspect sellotape has been used but I can t see it.; She went to the Tailors Two of the four pieces, dogs, head and arm are missing. An attempt has been made to mend it but it doesn t work. Again sellotape used. ; She went to the Hosiers In working order but crude repairs on verso with sellotape. Small tear by tab. All moveables are in good working order. Inner hinges have been neatly repaired, and a few rivets have been replaced; there is fingering and soil on the pages, the covers are rubbed and worn .Overall it is a very good copy of an extremely scarce early moveable. Montanaro, p. 259, opines that this was probably published in 1857. Our copy has an inscription dated 1861. .

Decorative endpapers advertising Dean & Son recent publications., on the verso is advertised New Series of Struwelpeters Six pages of Dissolving images with text underneath, all in working order. The dissolving scenes are as follows: Land/ Sea; War/Peace; Day/Night; Summer/ Winter; Fire/ Water; Earth/Air. The scene changes on the page surface as a venetian blind slat mechanism moves into place as the tab is activated. This novelty book illustrates themes of contrast. In pulling the tab, an image of war is transformed into a serene pastoral scene representing peace, and images of air change into pictures of earth. The tabs have been corrected i.e. some replaced, some minor tears by tabs have been strengthen. The boards are worn and rubbed, corners very worn. Inside there is grey spotting throughout on the pages and some small tears have been repaired some spotting etc. A good copy of a rare book. Size 27 x 19cm (7.5 x 9inches).
