The leather to the cover corners and head and tail of spine is worn and frayed. Binding holding firmly. No front or rear endpaper present. Page 161 has a small hole to the top edge. The text is faintly browned throughout, slightly darker to the fore-edge. There are some period notes in ink to the blank reverse of the last page. 285pp. plus 18pp. index (Table of Diseases).

Scholars believe the work to be culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. Limitations include missing pages, blurred pages, poor pictures, errant marks, etc. The issue copied is dated 1801. Dark spots are present on the bottom of the pages. The cover is brown with white lettering on the spine and front and is a modern cover. Available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box!

Bright copy of the most famous herbal in English, first published in 1652 and commonly known as 'Culpeper's Herbal'. In the following year the author altered the format of his work, apparently to differentiate it from the two well-known piracies issued by Bentley immediately after first publication. VERY SCARCE. Worming of inner margins of first few leaves. Interesting associatlon item with a presentation note cn front blank "Samuel J. Mixter from L. Vernon Briggs 1912" (then represented to) "S.J. Mixter to Wm Jason Mixter 1921". Mixter is best remembered for his description of the herniated lumbar disc and its association with sciatia, done with Joseph S. Barr in 1934 (See Garrison Morton 4435). Lazare Riverius (1589-1655) was a celebrated French plysician who served the court of the King of France. A native medicine at Montpellier in 1622 and, although late,* invited to teach at Toulouse and Bologna, remained at description of aortic stenosis, correction of many of the errors of Caien. rie was early end strong proponent of the works William Harvey on blood circulation. The pesent work contains transiations of his Praxis mieuieu and Observationum medicarum centuriae quatuor as well as a translation of Fernel's Constliorium medicinalium libr, one of the most orderly study of Fernel's writings.
