Boerma.Het Trippenhuis aan de Kloveniersburgwal is gebouwd in opdracht van de gebroeders Louys (1605-1684) en Hendrick Trip (1607-1666), handelaren in wapens, geschut etc. Zij lieten aan de Kloveniersburgwal het grootste woonhuis van Amsterdam in de 17e eeuw bouwen. Vanaf 1812 is de KNAW (Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen) permanent gevestigd in het Trippenhuis. De architect was Justus Vingboons (ca. 1620 ca. 1698).
