Nel presente saggio, articolato in 68 Epistole, si occupa di astronomia, botanica, astrologia, agricoltura degli antichi, con ampi riferimenti a scrittori classici quali Columella, Varrone. Édition originale. Giulio Pontedera (1688-1757), botaniste italien, étudie la médecine à Padoue avant de se consacrer à la botanique. Il herborise en Italie cisalpine, rapportant 272 plantes nouvelles, décrites dans son Compendium tabularum botanicarum. En 1719, il devient directeur du jardin des plantes et professeur de botanique à l'université de Padoue. Malgré ses divergences avec Linné, ce dernier lui consacra un genre de plantes, Pontederia.…
