First edition. 63pp. Robert Rendall (1898-1967) was a Scottish poet, and amateur naturalist who spent most of his life in Kirkwall, Orkney. Orkney Variants is his second collection of poems, and is divided into the following sections: Poems in Dialect, Orkney Variants, Poems in English, and Tailpiece. The book is bound in the original green cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with some tape staining near the top of the spine and top edge of up to about 2" of the boards (this has been taken from tape holding an old protective cover for the dustwrapper). The contents are tight and clean with a name on the top edge of the front free endpaper. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with some light soiling and the spine is faded. There are two scrapes that have caused some small holes near the fore edge of the front of the wrapper. It is in a removable clear plastic fronted protective cover.
