"Sein erster Film, UN CHIEN ANDALOU (1929), begründet den filmis…chen Surrealismus, der zweite, L'ÂGE D'OR (1930), wird vom französischen Staat kurzerhand verboten. Im Laufe seines künstlerischen Schaffens wird Luis Buñuel immer wieder mit staatlicher und kirchlicher Zensur konfrontiert, besonders spektakulär bei der spanisch-mexikanischen Produktion VIRIDIANA (Goldene Palme in Cannes 1961), die aufgrund angeblicher Blasphemien den größten Filmskandal der Franco-Ära auslöst.
