It presents in-depth examinations of the orations that were given at the society's meetings, each of which addressed a distinct agricultural topic. The collected speeches provide valuable insights into the state of American agriculture during the early 19th century. Through their discussions on the latest advancements in farming techniques and the challenges faced by farmers at the time, these orations contribute to a greater understanding of the country's agricultural history. The book's analysis of the speeches highlights the evolution of farming practices, the influence of scientific advancements, and the debates that shaped agricultural development in the United States. It is a practice in religious beliefs such as Spiritualism, Spiritism, Espiritismo, Candomblé, Louisiana Voodoo, Shambala and Umbanda. While the Western movements of Spiritualism and Spiritism account for most Western news-media coverage, it is likely mediumship is practiced more widely among other than European-based cultures; for instance, a majority of African and African-diasporic spiritual traditions include mediumship as a central focus of religious practice. Stamp is from the Church of Religious Science. Please send us a note if you have any questions. Thank you. Book.

It was conceived as a merchant school for educating the local youth for futures in trade and business. Bruce was a largely self-educated man from humble roots, making his achievements in the educational field all the more admirable. His other title was an Introduction to Geography and Astronomy, which went to multiple editions. The school was later led by his son Rev. Dr. John Collingwood Bruce. (See Sir Gainsford Bruce's biography of his father the Rev. John Collingwood Bruce, (W. Blackwood, Edinburgh,1905) for more details on the paterfamilias.) **The Engraver, MATTHEW BARRIFF of London, is mentioned in contemporary legal periodicals as having fallen out of partnership with at least two individuals in the first quarter of the nineteenth century. The London Gazette of 20th Dec., 1819 ,Vol. 2, tells us of a dissolved partnership with fellow engraver William Barrett "by mutual consent," at their premises at No. 67 Dean Street, So-ho Square. Page [2135]. Later, in 1825, he again dissolved a business partnership with Philip Jones, noted in The Law Advertiser, Vol. 3, No. 27, for Tuesday July 7, 1825. By the time of the publication of this Atlas, in 1828, he had relocated to Theobald's Road, London.**Library donor, the Rev. WILLIAM OXNARD MOSELEY (1843-1847), of Newburyport Massachusetts, home of this bookseller, was once pastor of Norwood First Parish Church. His family's estate Maudslay, was once a destination for a number of nineteenth-century Boston-area literary figures, and currently a public park upon the picturesque, rhododendron-laden shores of the Merrimack River. ( His son, William Jr. was, apparently, the first American mountaineer to die upon the Matterhorn in a tragic accident in 1879, according to the American Alpine Club.) OCLC 222784418. World cat shows only five copies of this volume internationally. Rare. Book.

Maps. Condition: Very Good. 10. Double sided foldout colored map (43 x 39 cm), labelled "L.A.W. Local cycling Map", and colored corresponding to the road type. 79 p. Includes: an official list of consuls, hotels and repair services in the area, that acts as a very early example of a travel coupon. Pages include routes from Adamsville to Zionsville, with route maps and information about the views, road conditions and recommendations from riders. Published to capitalize on the bike boom of the period, where recent innovations in safety components and reduction of manufacturing costs made bicycles more commercially available, and bike clubs sprung up across the country. Philadelphia was one of the centers of this Bike Boom, due to it's relatively flat cityscape, and was home to some of the most prominent cycling clubs. The League of American Wheelman was one of the most prominent, with 103,000 members in 1898 the year after this map was published. The league of American Wheelman still exists to this day. In fair condition, on aged and worn paper, with slight loss to text from breaking open of seal, and some repair with archival tape, and a square of paper neatly cut away from second leaf. Addressed, with postmark, on reverse of second leaf, to 'Revd G Johnstone | Methodist Chapel | Kingstone | Jamaica'. Letter on one page and 'Mr G Johnstone Dr in account with T Blanshard'. Writing to his 'Dear Bro[th]er', he hopes that Johnstone will be able to settle the annexed account 'at your ensuing District Meeting'. He hopes that he has 'done something' to clear the remainder of 'the Stock so accumulated and then abandond [sic] by Mr Wiggins'. He hopes 'the good Work continues still to flourish in the different Stations in your Island', and states that he has been 'visited with the grievous afflction of Widowhood'. The letter ends with a reference to 'your old Friend Bror Strangeways'.The account covers dates between 1814 and 1820, regarding debits (one 'Preacher's fund' and nine 'To Books') amounting to £356 19s 8d, with a balance of £73 7s 10d owing (after payments 'By Cash' and By J Wood'). At the foot of the page another hand (presumably Johnstone's) has made financial calculations, involving various shipments, with the names given of two ships and their captains. For more on Johnstone see the letters of Dr Thomas Coke (2013), edited by J. A. Vickers, in which a footnote states that Johnstone 'was ordained by Coke at Hull to go to Antigua in support of John Baxter. He died in Jamaica in 1821, having succumbed to a fever after overworking himself.'.
