Maler, Nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg schloss er sich 1919 dem berüchtigten Freikorps Marinebrigade Ehrhardt an und nahm 1920 am Kapp-Putsch teil, 1938 von Adolf Hitler zum Professor für bildende Kunst ernannt, als Kriegsmaler der SS 1943 in den persönlichen Stab des Reichsführer SS berufen; stattete Hermann Göring s Reichsjägerhof Carinhall mit Wandgemälden aus. Später illustrierte er für die HÖRZU und 12 Mecki-Bücher.
