Soft cover. Condition: . ~ ~ NOTE: THE PRICE OF THIS BOOK IS CURRENTLY REDUCED! ~ ~ (illustrator). 1st Edition. Two parts in one volume. Quarto (31x22 cm). Pp. 60, (1); 65-148, (3). Plus 15 plates including frontispiece with numerous images to each, partly printed in chromolithography and partly in collotype. Original printed green wrappers, front detached, spine worn, bookblock consequently loosening. In fine internal condition, excellent plates. ~ FIRST EDITION. Very rare. The wonderful plates are printed in monochromatic collotype and in chromolithography, respectively. Collotype is one of the most accurate and attractive methods of photomechanical tonal printing processes. Highly skilled and expensive process, it cannot produce more than a limited number of impressions. It has been used for single-sheet prints and luxury portfolios, and since the 1950s has been abandoned by all except a few small specialist firms. An authoritative manual on chromolithography in 1885 (Colour and Colour Printing, by W. D. Richmond) asserts the need for at least nine separate stones to achieve such richness, but in fact the number of stones used was often more than twenty. ~ Provenance: From the library of C. P. Mulder, renowned collector and international heraldry authority, with his charming armorial bookplate,"Nil Desperandum", to first free endpaper. For a complete catalogue of Mulder's library, from which we offer a considerable number of items, see: C. P. Mulder: "Catalogue of Works on Orders, Decorations and Medals in the Library of C. P. Mulder" (Rotterdam, 1988). See also: C. P. Mulder & A. A. Purves: "Bibliography of Orders and Decorations" (Copenhagen, 1999). ENTRY-1.

Plus 32 plates with numerous illustrations of medals, all printed in fine photogravure. Description of each plate appears on the facing page which is the verso of the previous plate. HARDCOVER, rebound in blue full cloth with part of the original cloth, lettered in silver, laid-down on cover. Black morocco lettering-piece in gilt to title. In fine condition. Excellent copy. ~ FIRST EDITION. [Provenance:] From the library of C. The present copy, Mulder's own working copy, bears witness to the dedication and scholarly of this authority. It includes many corrections and additions drawn from various sources, including publisher's corrections and ammendments, clipped and tipped-in at the appropriate places in the book. Mulder's notes and corrections in pencil, occasionally in pen, appear in places as well as extensively on slips of paper, loosely inserted. Related clips from various sources are also loosely inserted. But the great contribution of Mulder to this work, indeed his improvement of the work, is to be found in the Plates section. On interleaves which are bound-in he mounted additional images of medals which were not originally included in the book, each carefully identified. There are close to 100 such additional illustrations from various sources, depicting medals Obverse and Reverse. [NOTE:] It should be noted that this material, the result of a lifelong research, study, and collection is provided herewith strictly as-is, subject to what is physically present in the book. [ALSO INCLUDED:] Original publisher's promotional leaf, announcing the publication of this book with additional information. [FURTHER INCLUDED:] Original receipt invoice from the publisher on original stationery with logo, confirming the purchase of this book on October 15th, 1940, for the sum of RM 21.68 after 25% discount. Typed with additional text in manuscript, stamped and signed. The purchaser was Henri Quinot, Belgium, whose ownership ticket with full address and telephone number is pasted at the corner of first free endpaper. Henri Quinot, who passed away in 1967, was the author of the definitive work on Belgian decorations "Recueil illustre des Ordres de Chevalerie et decorations Belges 1830 à 1963". He was a fine collector and an authority on the subject. Another ownership signature is also to be found on this page and inside cover there's a third, unidentified bookplate. Extremely rare unique scholar's copy with exquisite provenance. E-5 OUT.

Beautifully bound in full brown leather with the title stamped to the front board and the spine and with raised bands at the spine, all edges gilt, 8 5/8 inches by 11 1/8 inches. Decorative endpapers. Fine. Unbeknownst to the many admirers of Robin Williams was that he was a lover of books. Over the years, Williams had his own private press specially printing on fine papers and handsomely binding editions of the screenplays of some of the films he appeared in. They were all printed in very small quantities. Williams would sign them and then they would be sent to members of the cast and crew of the productions. As a unique item, this is a special opportunity to honor and celebrate WilliamsÕs love of his craft, his love of books, and his appreciation of the people who helped to bring his films to life. Jakob the Liar was produced by Marsha Garces Williams, directed by Peter Kassovitz, starring Robin Williams in the title role, with Hanna Taylor Gordon, Bob Balaban, Alan Arkin, Michael Jeter, and Liev Schreiber. The film tells the story of how, during WWII, an ordinary inhabitant of a ghetto (Williams) fakes news about Allied offensives to inspire hope for other victims of the Nazi regime.

Fol. M. 17 Taf. u. 19 Abb. 31 S. OLwd. Einbd. leicht angeschmutzt.
