Hardcover. Condition: Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. First Edition. Tom Wesselmann (1931 - 2004) was prominent in the Pop Art movement and created Slim Stealingworth as his alter ego. It appears that this alter ego who wrote the biography and insightful analysis of the development of his work. According to the text, this book was the culmination of a ten year project with the publisher. This is a substantial, heavy, oversize book filled with color and b&w plates of many of his iconic works, two of which are folding (there are some smaller b&w and color illustrations and photos as well). The plates cover his work during the 1960's and 70's. The covers are white cloth and there is a tipped in color plate on the front cover. The spine and cover lettering are in black. The white covers have light spotting along a portion of the bottom edge as well as some darker discoloration of the white cloth where the original mylar dust jacket was at one time torn away (see photos). Contains a bibliography, list of exhibitions and collections housing his works, and an index in the rear. The front matter contains a subject listing with page numbers referencing the plates. Two editions were published initially: the first trade edition and a first limited edition. This copy indicates it is a First Edition on the verso of the title page. It is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings. Please inquire if you would like more information. [Weight: 6# 14oz]; Color & B&W Illustrations; Folio 13" - 23" tall; 321 pages. …

Bound in decorated cloth boards with color pastedown present to the front pastedown. Boards have light shelf-wear present to the extremities. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. Tom Wesselmann (1931-) was one of the most prominent Pop artists of the 1960s. Whilst in the army he began drawing cartoons and afterward studied art at the Cincinnati Art Academy and then the Cooper Union. It was after his first one-man exhibition at the Tanager Gallery, New York, that he became known as one of the leading figures in American Pop art. He subsequently abandoned abstract expressionism for collages and constructions in mixed media, producing works created from clocks, television sets and air conditioners to ressemble shop windows. He became well known for the overt erotic imagery of his series, Great American Nude, which became progressively more sexual during the 1970s. This monograph is both a visual retrospective and informed critical account of Tom Wesselmann's work. EB; 13.30 X 11.90 X 1.70 inches; 320 pages.…
