"In dieser Eigenschaft entwickelte der Künstler eine staunenswerthe Thätigkeit [.]. Er würde aber auf diesem Gebiete kaum zu größerer Bedeutung gelangt sein, wenn sich nicht seine musikalische Individualität auf einem anderen Felde seiner Wirksamkeit entfaltet hätte. Als nämlich im J. 1843 der Wiener Männergesangverein - der erste in Oesterreich - gegründet wurde, wurde er nach kurzer Zeit gleichzeitig mit G. Barth dessen Chormeister.
