Published by Frederick Bentley & Co. Shoe Lane Fleet Street London, 1869
Landscape card, 7.5 x 11.5 cm. Designed to show off the firm's capabilities, and printed on one side in purple, green, light brown and gold, with fancy lettering within florally-decorated body and border, around a small central illustration of three men working a press. Printers' details in small letters at foot, reading 'F. Bentley & Co. Lth' and 'Shoe Lane, London.' The almanac on the reverse is a more restrained affair, stylishly printed in purple and gold. Fair: lightly-aged, with small closed hole to one corner, and slight wear at foot of almanac. Central image clear and undamaged. Harrild was uncle of the novelist Richard Jefferies. Frederick was the brother of Richard Bentley, publisher, and Samuel Bentley, printer. See Image.

Full title - CATALOGUS EORUM QUI IN UNIVERSITATE HARVARDIANA, CANTABRIGIAE, IN REPUBLICA MASSACHUSETTENSI, AB ANNO MDCXLII, AD ANNUM MDCCLXXXII, ALICUJUS GRADUS LAUREA DONATI SUNT. ECCLESIARUM PASTORES LITERIS ITALICIS EXARANTUR. QUI AD IMUM CLASSIUM A CAETERIS, LINEA INTERPOSITA, SEPARANTUR, ALIBI INSTITUTI SUERUNT, VEL APUD NOS GRADU HONORARIO DONATI. 34 pages. Paperback booklet: H 21cm x L 13.25cm. Partially disbound - initial three leaves and rear two leaves detached with other leaves tenuous; old glue evidence along spine quires indicative that booklet was probably removed from a bound collection. Antiquarian ink ownership inscription dated 1782 at title page's upper right with tops of several letters lopped; likewise several antiquarian ink markings and annotations amongst text with one of the latter at page 13's fore-edge margin also lopped - thus likely that the booklet was fractionally trimmed when previously bound as the top edges and fore-edges are very even whereas bottom edges are deckled (with latter almost certainly being as issued). Toning, moisture tidelines, some soiling, and edge-wear to leaves. Title page in Latin; student names are varyingly provided in Anglican and Latinized forms (presumably the latter used when the student's name permitted an immediate Latin equivalent). Bibliographical references: Evans #17556; English Short Title Catalog #W30255.
