Decorative Cloth. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. First American Edition. From the recently auctioned collection of M. B. Goldstone--with his penciled signature to the front free endpaper. A superb fine copy in copper colored cloth with elaborate gilt decorations and lettering to the front board and spine. Solid gilt top edge and handcut paper. This is the special edition limited to 250 numbered copies--this being copy 84. This copy is in near mint condition--with the appearance of never being opened or read--some very mild soiling to the back cloth board--otherwise as new as the day it was published. Guelette originally published his tales in France in the early 18th Century and he died in 1768. This special edition is embellished with etchings and photogravures--all protected by the original tissue guards.

Full-Leather. Condition: Good. No Jacket. No Edition Stated. two 18th century novels bound in one, published as volume 5 of The Novelists' Magazine, published by Harrison and co, illustrated. Presumably contemporary full calf, hinges cracked, held by the cords, text block tight but with some foxing, text is in the form of two columns to the page. The 'magazine' was started in 1780, and lasted until 1788, in all consisting of 23 volumes. It sold weekly in parts, priced 6d, and the production values are clearly lower than the more pricy 18th C. norm. The illustrator was Thomas Stothard, and the engraver was James Heath. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

A limited edition, being one of only six hundred and eighty copies.In the publisher's original gilt cloth.This collection of tales was edited by Leonard C. Smithers, and was first published in 1715 under the title 'Mille et un Quarts D'Heure, Contest Tartares', written by Thomas Simon Gueulette. The tales are described as being lively, entertaining and ingenious imitations of 'The Arabian Nights'. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally very smart with fading to the spine, a slight lean, bumping to the extremities, marks to the boards, and slight chipping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally firmly bound with lightly age toned pages with the odd spot to the front. Very Good. book.
