"Note sur quelques réactions propres à la substance des capsules surrénales" in "Comptes Rendus Hebdomadaires des Séances de l'Academie des Sciences." Paris, Mallet-Bachelier, 1856, vol 43, No 13. Pp. 637- 672, with the Vulpian paper on pp. 663-665. Very nice, fresh, crisp copy. Offered without the original wrappers, extracted cleanly from a larger bound volume.[++] Édme Félix Alfred Vulpian's wide-ranging research also extended to the study of adrenaline (also known as epinephrine), a hormone and neurotransmitter produced by the adrenal glands. Adrenaline plays a vital role in the body's stress response and helps regulate various physiological processes. Vulpian conducted experiments to investigate the effects of adrenaline on the cardiovascular system. In the mid-19th century, he observed that injecting adrenaline into animals caused a rise in blood pressure and an increase in heart rate. This pioneering work laid the foundation for understanding adrenaline's role in cardiovascular regulation. This is the first appearance of Vulpian's announcement on the discovery of adrenaline. Garrison & Morton No. 1141.
