Gilt Lettered Cloth. Condition: Near Fine. [Marie and Otto Neurath] (illustrator). First Edition. First edition, with Isotype Institute illustration. 128 pp. Gilt-lettered light grey cloth in unclipped jacket. Small nibbles to the edges of the jacket, but a far fresher copy than one usually finds. Book extremities slightly bumped, internally clean. B/w illustrated with 84 photographs and with 14 pictorial charts in colour by the Isotype Institute. The Isotype Institute was founded by Marie and Otto Neurath in England, following their collaboration in Vienna in the 1920s developing a unique visual language of words and symbols which was able to synthesise complex information. This volume employs these coloured pictorial charts on the problem of unemployment, using data from employment rates in war and peacetime. Part of 'The New Democracy' series; each book written by an expert on a societal problem to educate the public as part of a wider mission to re-build a better society after the war. Paul Rotha was the photographic editor. 8vo.
