In the publisher's original blue and green cloth, with in-text illustrations, a colour frontispiece, eleven other colour plates, and two monochrome plates by British engraver and lithographer Tuffen West. Collated complete. Due to the great progress within science after the first publication, Bousefield felt it necessary to update the information while retaining the enthusiasm and charm from Wood's popular original.
