Townes worked on the theory and application of the maser, for which he obtained the fundamental patent, and other work in quantum electronics associated with both maser and laser devices.?

"The catalogue, using words and pictures, gives a brief summary of the development of video art since the beginnings in 1963." It includes short monographs of individual participating artists and a bibliography. The third catalogue entitled, "Art and Electronics" is a program presented at the Hong Kong Arts Festival, and signed, "To DoDo and for DoDo only", most likely by cinematographer Uwe Nitschke, who wrote the forward as a member of the European Working Group for Culture. The exhibition in Hong Kong, .'provides a wealth of information and stimuli for all artists.So that a dialogue can result from this, a number of artists from Europe and Hong Kong have declared their willingness to conduct seminars and workshops in conjunction with the exhibition."
