Leather. Condition: Poor. . 5 x 3½ x 1¾ inches, black leather with brass corners, front cover detached and one of two clasps missing, some damage to edges of early pages. Spine says "Church Services". Undated Victorian edition with some relevant prayers altered in pen to read "King" and "Alexandra". Size: 24mo - over 5" - 5¾" tall.

Spine says "Church Services", New Testament dated 1862. The Metrical psalms are supplemented with a few pages of metrical versions of historic hymns. Size: 32mo - over 4" - 5" tall.

Condition: Fair. No Edition Remarks. Unpaginated. Full bound brown leather. 2 volumes in one slipcase each paginated separately. Slight cracking to hinges, with exposed netting, pages remain attached. Pages have light tanning and foxing throughout. Small tears to some page edges, text remains unaffected. Front free endpaper to Common Prayer cut out with pencil inscription to rear free endpaper. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Chipping to leather to spine. Slipcase has moderate edge wear with markings to panels and scuffing to edges.

Firmly bound gilt decorated embossed black leather binding, gilt metal board outer edges with gilt metal clasp, some rubbing and wear on the cover, quite heavy on the spine, front external edge of the spine starting to split, front free end paper removed so book starts at the title page.

An ideal nineteenth century gift.

Full morocco, VG. unpaginated but approx 1300pp, title page to each part, all edges gilt, functioning brass clasp, leather worn to the edges, spine with raised bands & in gilt 'Church Services', occasional mild foxing, the first 20pp of the Common Prayer curiously 'grubby' as if having been lightly buffed with shoe polish with legibility unaffected, an attractive copy. Common Prayer is smallpica 16mo, rest Longprimer 16mo. Atrtractively typeset & bound Church Service volume. 825 grams.

Edge and corner wear; scuffed and scratched; head and tail of the spine have a couple of small splits in them; corners are bumped and rubbed; liquid stain on the base of the last few pages (does not affect readability); missing the rfep; overall still a nice used first edition! Wonderfully well-preserved for its 150+ year age! Brown leather with gilt lettering on the spine and a gilt design on the front board. 454 very clean unmarked and uncreased spiritual and historical pages! Printed at the university press for the society for the promoting christian knowledge sold at the society's depository northumberland avenue charing cross london. the book is undated but we would expect it to be printed circa 1900 Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

Full roan leather, VG. both volumes unpaginated but approx 650pp, all edges gilt, in an attractive matching brown roan leather travelling case with hinged lid, extremities of the rasised bands a little rubbed from sliding into the case, corners bumped, , bottom of the case rather worn with some leather loss, the first 20 or so page of the Common Prayer darkened as if they have come into contact with grease/fat, an attactive little set. Diamond 48 edition. A small ( each volume is approx 3.5 inches tall & 2 inches wide , the pair together 1.5 inches thick ) liturgical & devotional set, nicely typset in a miniscule font. 225 grams.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. TWO INDIVIDUAL VOLUMES each 12x7cm. on India paper and together 5cm in depth. Bound in blind-stamped decorative black morocco with gilt titles to the spines. The Psalms have a separate title-page also dated 1841. All edges gilt and within a slip-case of black leather over card for ease of carriage. Each has an owner's inscription "Eliza Smith February 23rd 1842" in ink on the front free end-paper. End-papers in cream. The contents are clean and very good for their age. A very nice example of early Victorian Anglicanism. UNCOMMON.

Few tiny page turn ins.Text within a single line frame, the occasional light spot otherwise the text is clean. Before the half title page are four un-numbered card leaves, page [2] with an additional coloured and gilt frontispiece, and a similarly coloured architectural title page [3] with the legend - London. R.A.Suttaby at the lower end. Dark maroon morocco binding the foredges with protective brass onlays and working clasp, both upper and lower covers with a central recessed oval lozenge, the upper cover with INRI in ivory floriated letters, the lower cover with the same letters in blind, both covers with an outer single line fillet frame with flower heads in the corners. The spine with four raised bands, divided into panels by double fillet lines in blind, the title - Church Services , lettered directly in gilt. Marbled endpapers and gilt inner dentelles. Overall, a very attractive Book of Common Prayer in very good condition. This is a Suttaby binding, they were based in London and were very active during the mid to late nineteenth century, and renowned for their workmanship and elegant bindings especially pocket books and devotional literature. We have identified the Book of Common Prayer as Griffiths - 1861.2.

Publisher's brown limp full morocco with blind rules and gilt lettering, all edges gilt, ownership inscription dated 1873 to the head of the first title page. A little light wear to the extremities, foxing to the front of the volume, else very good. Printed on india paper.

Three miniature books all with different publishers but bound in identical full-leather with four raised band, all gilt edges, and large cross to each front. Binding shows some signs of use, but the joints are sound and tight. Presentation inscription to front endpaper and a few marks to the initial blanks and title page, otherwise a very good copy.
