Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. In control theory, sliding mode control (SMC) is a nonlinear control method that alters the dynamics of a nonlinear system by application of a discontinuous control signal that forces the system to slide along a cross-section of the system's normal behaviour. In recent years, SMC has been successfully applied to a wide variety of practical engineering systems including robot manipulators, aircraft, underwater vehicles, spacecraft, flexible space structures, electrical motors, power systems, and automotive engines. Sliding Mode Control of Uncertain Parameter-Switching Hybrid Systems addresses the increasing demand for developing SMC technologies and comprehensively presents the new, state-of-the-art sliding mode control methodologies for uncertain parameter-switching hybrid systems. It establishes a unified framework for SMC of Markovian jump singular systems and proposes new SMC methodologies based on the analysis results. A series of problems are solved with new approaches for analysis and synthesis of switched hybrid systems, including stability analysis and stabilization, dynamic output feedback control, and SMC. A set of newly developed techniques (e.g. average dwell time, piecewise Lyapunov function, parameter-dependent Lyapunov function, cone complementary linearization) are exploited to handle the emerging mathematical/computational challenges. Key features: Covers new concepts, new models and new methodologies with theoretical significance in system analysis and control synthesisIncludes recent advances in Markovian jump systems, switched hybrid systems, singular systems, stochastic systems and time-delay systemsIncludes solved problemsIntroduces advanced techniques Sliding Mode Control of Uncertain Parameter-Switching Hybrid Systems is a comprehensive reference for researchers and practitioners working in control engineering, system sciences and applied mathematics, and is also a useful source of information for senior undergraduate and graduates studying in these areas. Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. This book presents the latest research on switching control, adaptive switching control, and their applications in the transient stability control and analysis of large-scale complex power systems. In large-scale complex power systems, renewable power generators, flexible power electronics converters, and distributed controllers are widely employed. Due to the poor overcurrent tolerance capability of power electronics converters and lacking of coordination mechanism, stability control in events, such as natural disasters, cascaded faults, and severe disturbances, is viewed as the key challenge in the operation of these systems. High-performance self-coordinated controllers are needed for the control of important power sources and power electronics converters. Adaptive switching controllers are a group of controllers designed by the authors for the control of various renewable power generators, synchronous generators, and modular multilevel converters. These controllers operate in a self-coordinated manner and aim to employ the largest transient control energy of converters and power sources. Imbalance between power generation and consumption is largely filled by the application of these controllers, and transient stability of power systems can be significantly improved. This book covers both the preliminary knowledge and key proofs in the design and stability analysis of adaptive switching control systems, and considerable simulation and experimental results are presented to illustrate the application and performance of the controllers. This book is used as a reference book for researchers and engineers in fields of electrical engineering and control engineering. This book presents the latest research on switching control, adaptive switching control, and their applications in the transient stability control and analysis of large-scale complex power systems. Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. This book presents correct-by-design control techniques for switching systems, using different methods of stability analysis. Switching systems are increasingly used in the electronics and mechanical industries; in power electronics and the automotive industry, for example. This is due to their flexibility and simplicity in accurately controlling industrial mechanisms. By adopting appropriate control rules, we can steer a switching system to a region centered at a desired equilibrium point, while avoiding "unsafe" regions of parameter saturation. The authors explain various correct-by-design methods for control synthesis, using different methods of stability and invariance analysis. They also provide several applications of these methods to industrial examples of power electronics. Because of their flexibility and ease-of-use, switching systems is at the basis of the electronics and mechanical industries. This text describes the control techniques and methods of stability analysis in switching systems. It also addresses acceptable control rules and tactics for avoiding unsafe regions of parameter saturation. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

New York, American Telephone and Telegraph Company, 1982 8vo. Original full green cloth. Volume 61, 1982 of "The Bell System Technical Journal". Library stamp to pasted down front free end-paper. Minor bumping to extremities. Beside a very few pencil marks a nice and clean copy. Pp. 391- 657. [Entire issue: Pp. XXXX, (1), 659]. First edition of Bell System's description of the highly influential and innovative first remote switching system. (No. 10A RSS).With the rapid rise in households with a telephone in the 50ies and 60ies, a new and more effective switching system was needed. The Bell System developed the No. 1 ESS (Electronic Switching System) to meet with these demands. The ESS made servicing easier but a more automatic and centralized structure was needed in order to meet the demands of smaller businesses. "With the evolution in electronic technology currently in progress, it was evident that intelligent remotely controlled devices could be brought into central office switching environment. A system which could effectively and economically remote large portions of its network over large distances could rapidly be deployed over major segments of the Bell System network. The era of electronic switching began with the introduction of the No. 1 ESS into commercial service in 1965. [.] In spite of this activity, there remains a large segment of Bell System central offices that until the introduction of the 10A RSS could not justify the introduction of electronic switching technology." (From the introducing article).Even though the No. 10A RSS essentially was built upon the No. 1 ESS it was still a milestone in the history of telephony.
