Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book details Nevada's forests, a subject rich in the region's history and culture. The author takes an in-depth look at the state's vast and varied woodland resources and their importance in shaping Nevada's landscapes and ecosystems. The author explores the diverse range of woodland types present in the state, from the familiar pinyon-juniper woodlands to the lesser-known mountain mahogany stands. The book delves into the ecological significance of these woodlands, highlighting their role as wildlife habitats, watersheds, and sources of renewable resources. Beyond their environmental importance, this book examines the historical and cultural connections between Nevada's woodlands and its people. The author traces the ways in which these woodlands have sustained Native American communities, supported mining and ranching industries, and shaped the state's identity. In addition to providing a comprehensive overview of Nevada's woodlands, the author offers insights into the challenges facing their management. The book explores how climate change, invasive species, and increasing human demands are impacting these fragile ecosystems and discusses potential strategies for their conservation and sustainable use. Ultimately, this book serves as a valuable resource for anyone interested in understanding and appreciating Nevada's unique and irreplaceable woodland heritage. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Couverture souple. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. Edition originale. Hazan - Paris2013. Hardback. Condizione libro: New. 325 x 259 mm. Brand New Book. Famed for his focused observation of nature, Flemish painter Jan van Eyck ("c." 1395-1441) studied fauna and flora in their natural environment and under carefully chosen lighting conditions, and then achieved a breathtaking and convincing realism in his paintings. Each panel is a collection of minuscule details rendered with superb clarity from foreground to background--or at least that is the impression at first glance. As this book reveals, that is precisely where Van Eyck's exceptional talent lay: He understood that the human brain is able to supplement visual perception where necessary. Here, details from Van Eyck's paintings are organized by such themes as nature, architecture, daily life, fabrics, glass, jewelry and mirrors, and portraits. Opening with a biographical note and an essay on the technique of oil painting on panel, the authors explain the significance of the individual details and how Van Eyck achieved his innovative artistic results. With a preface by contemporary painter Luc Tuymans, this book is an unprecedented look at the work of a popular master. Codice libro della libreria 005071 Size: 325 x 259 mm.

Binding is Red cloth Hardcover lettered in black on Spine, DJ Light Stain mild Wear, 173 pgs, Interior Nice tight Clean, Was Orignally publ in 1874 . Bunkers of Rippleton In this book Optic's message is that groups in society need discipline, order and competent leadership to succeed. His genius is that he uses a 12-oared gig to make the point; a boat which requires absolute coordination and cooperation from the rowers. The Bunkers of the sub-title are a bunch of rebellious boys who make life miserable for many on the shores of an upstate New York Lake. After his son Frank has a run-in with the Bunker's, Captain Sedley, (a retired and well-to do shipmaster) decides to form a boat club for his son and his friends. In the course of learning to row the boat, they learn cooperation, discipline and courage and, of course, manage to outdo the Bunker's with their undisciplined and rebellious ways. There's also a little injustice and false accusation. The falsely accused triumphs in the end and is proven innocent. It is done so well that you feel like standing up and giving a cheer when the innocent is set free. First published about 1850.
