Questa raccolta, inoltre, dimostra un progetto culturale preciso e colto. Il collezionista ha voluto rilegare insieme le più importanti relazioni sulle linee di espansione dei grandi imperi europei e asiatici. Coperta in piena pergamena rigida coeva con tracce d'uso; tassello bruno al dorso con indicazioni sugli autori punzonati in oro (si notifica lieve distacco del margine destro del tassello); risguardi in carta vergata; annotazioni manoscritte ad inchiostro bruno al verso dei due piatti. Miscellanea composta da sette opere tra relazioni di viaggio, letteratura geografica e corografica e resoconti diplomatici realizzate tra i secc. XVII e XVIII. Edizioni in lingua tedesca pubblicate nei principali centri editoriale dell'Europa germanofona. Stato di conservazione generale buono: si rilevano annotazioni manoscritte alle carte, tracce di foxing diffuse, imbrunimento delle carte e gore d'acqua. OPERA I: Preziosa e rara opera di viaggio che rappresenta un affascinante documento storico sulle regioni dell'Europa settentrionale all'inizio del XVIII secolo. Una panoramica antropologica e naturalistica della Lapponia e della Botnia. È descritto il fenomeno dell'aurora boreale che all'epoca suscitava grande meraviglia. Vignetta xilografica al frontespizio in inchiostro rosso raffigurante scena di vita e caccia della cultura Sami, 7 illustrazioni xilografiche nel corpo del testo (la prima edizione del 1713 era sprovvista di vignetta al frontespizio e illustrazioni). Presente al verso del frontespizio il timbro ad inchiostro blu della Stadtbibliothek di Königsberg (oggi Kaliningrad). Seconda edizione edita a Jena per mano di Heinrich Christoph Cröcker nel 1727. Il volume è un resoconto di un viaggio nelle regioni della Lapponia e della Botnia (attuali Svezia settentrionale e Finlandia occidentale) compiuto da Johann Gerhard Scheller, filologo e lessicografo tedesco. Il resoconto si basa su osservazioni dirette dell'autore, il quale descrive aspetti geografici e naturali, antropologici ed etnografici e aggiunge considerazioni politiche e culturali relative ai luoghi visitati. Le 7 illustrazioni xilografiche a corredo del testo rappresentano: scene quotidiane della vita sami, il Nordlicht, tipiche abitazioni lapponi, figure di animali locali, strumenti e mezzi di trasporto. Fu uno dei primi testi tedeschi a trattare estesamente della cultura Sami. OPERA II: Edizione del 1692 dell'opera di Georg Adam Schleissing, in XII capitoli, dedicata alla descrizione della Siberia, delle sue popolazioni, del commercio delle pellicce di zibellino e dell'espansione russa in Asia, con un ?appendice sulla situazione politica del regno degli zar Ivan V e Pietro Alekseevi? e della reggente Sofia Alekseevna, come annunciato nel frontespizio. Il volume è ornato da capilettera e testatine xilografici ed è completo della grande incisione calcografica ripiegata fuori testo intitolata Siwerische Land-Charda e datata 1690. Opera rara per le descrizioni geografiche pionieristiche della Siberia, della Tartaria e della nuova Zembie. La presenza della mappa originale ne aumenta drasticamente la rarità; è inoltre una fonte primaria per gli storici della Russia imperiale. OPERA III: Anche questa è un'opera storica eccezionale e di grande valore documentario stampata a Danzica. Descrizione storico-geografica del Mar Caspio, del fiume Daria e dei territori, città e popolazioni delle regioni circostanti. L'opera comprende un resoconto delle campagne militari intraprese da Pietro il Grande. Tra il 1722 e il 1723 la Russia, per espandere la propria influenza sul Caucaso e sul mar Caspio, intraprese la campagna persiana. Il testo raccoglie i resoconti di quella celebre marcia militare russa tra Astrechan siano a Derbent. L'esemplare presenta capilettera e testatine xilografici. Risulta mancante della tavola calcografica fuori testo raffigurante veduta di Derbent. OPERA IV: Documento eccezionale e raro resoconto di viaggio diplomatico stampato a Lubecca. Prima edizione della relazione della missione diplomatica russa inviata da Pietro il Grande presso l'imperatore cinese nel 1719-1722. L'autore, Georg J. Unverzagt, partecipò alla spedizione guidata dal capitano Lev Vasil'evi? Izmailov e descrive il lungo viaggio da San Pietroburgo a Pechino, con osservazioni geografiche, etnografiche e politiche sulla Siberia, sulla Cina e sui territori attraversati. L'opera costituisce una testimonianza coeva dei rapporti diplomatici e commerciali tra l'impero russo e quello cinese agli inizi del XVIII secolo. Illustrata con frontespizio inciso, testatine e capilettera xilografici e 9 tavole calcografiche ripiegate fuori testo raffiguranti vedute e soggetti relativi al viaggio, tra cui Pechino, la Grande Muraglia presso Kalgan e diverse città siberiani, tra cui Selenginsk, Verchneudinsk e Tobolosk. La rotta transiberiana, l'etnografie e popolazioni nonché l'apparato illustrativo rendono questo esemplare unico. OPERA V: Cronaca rilevante e affascinante del viaggio in Medio Oriente e in Africa stampata ad Amburgo nel 1709. Trattasi della prima traduzione in alto tedesco del famoso resoconto del francese Paul Lucas (1664-1737), archeologo e antiquario. L'esplorazione va dal Cairo fino alle cataratte del Nilo (all'epoca l'Alto Egitto era terra pericolosa e misteriosa, quasi inaccessibile.
