Add to basket29 x 21cm. Hardcover in illustrated boards with glassine wrap, 64pp. Fish and Fowl were pseudonyms for illustrator Annie Fish and writer Olivia Maitland Davidson. Undated [1916]. Dedicated to "the boys in khaki and blue". Fully illustrated with cartons in the manner of an early graphic novel, presenting incidents in the life of "Eve", working as a World War I nurse on the home front, with references to air raids and Zeppelins. Glassine wrap has large closed tears, and paper covered boards has splitting in the spine area. Some splitting between sections internally. Pages otherwise bright. Fair condition.

With Annie Fish's signature laid down to the first plate.With the illustrated bookplate of Gladys Emma Peto to the front free endpaper. Peto was the artist for the series 'The Letters of Phrynette' in The Sketch. This was so similar to "Letters of Eve" that there was a court case over the matter, discussed in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.This work describes Eve's experiences during the first part of the First World War as a hospital nurse, at war-time dances, and employed as a policewoman.With the text provided by 'Fowl' (Olivia Maitland Davidson), and the illustrations by Fish (Annie Fish).Undated; dated 1916 via Jisc.
