Augsburger Friedensgemälde ? sind jährlich erscheinende Einblattdrucke mit erläuterndem Text, die an den Westfälischen Frieden von 1648 erinner…n sollten. Die Initiative dazu ist von der evangelischen Barfüßergemeinde ausgegangen. Zwischen 1651 und 1789 erschienen insgesamt 138 Blätter mit Kupferstichen unter Beteiligung von 55 Künstlern als Zeichner und Kupferstecher; allein für das Jahr 1653 ist kein Kupferstich, sondern nur ein Gebet gedruckt worden. ? Die Reihe ist somit ein Musterbuch der Augsburger Künstler dieser Zeit? Die Druckplatten wurden von der Barfüßer-Pfarrei aufbewahrt; es folgten immer wieder Nachdrucke, die in Sammelbänden mit eigenem Titel und einer Einführung verlegt wurden. Nach der Herausgabe im Jubiläumsjahr 1748 folgten bis 1789 noch 41 Jahrgänge. Sämtliche Jahrgänge wurden 1790 ein letztes Mal mit neuem Titel versehen herausgegeben. Lit.: Seitz, Augsburg. Blick aus der Kavaliers-Perspektive auf die Seitenfassade der Residenz der Kurfürsten und Erzbischöfe von Köln mit anschließenden Seitengebäuden und einem umbauten Ehrenhof. Im Vordergrund sieht man zahlreiche Staffagefiguren und zwei Kutschen.Links un…ter der Darstellung ist die Nennung des Zeichners der Komposition, Francois Rousseau (1717-1801). Unten rechts befindet sich die gedruckte Signatur des Augsburger Stechers Balthasar Friedrich Leizel(t) (1755-1812). Unterhalb der Ansicht sind der französische (dieser wird oben spiegelbildlich wiederholt) und der deutsche Titel. Am unteren Rand befindet sich die Adresse des Verlages der kaiserlichen Kunstakademie in Augsburg mit dem kaiserlichen Druckprivileg. Aus deren Serie: Collections des Prospects. Es handelt sich um eine seitengleiche vereinfachte Kopie einer Radierung von Rousseaus Sohn Franz Jacob nach einer Komposition seines Vaters. Die Ansicht zeigt einen Idealentwurf des Architekten Johann Heinrich Roth (1729-1780) mit angebauten dreigeschossigen Eckpavillons, die so wie die Anbauten nie ausgeführt wurden. Das Projekt entstand wohl nach dem großen Brand des Schlosses im Jahre 1777, am linken Bildrand sind noch Brandruinen sichtbar. Seit ihrer Gründung 1818 hat die Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität ihren Sitz im ehemaligen kurfürstlichen Schloss. // Zustand: Ohne Bildverlust über den Plattenrand beschnitten. Etwas fleckig. Teilweise leicht knittrig, es wurde auf das geknitterte Papier gedruckt. Links oben ist ein Nadelloch. Rechts unten ist eine kleine Fehlstelle am Rand.
