Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book travels Great Britain's past through a collection of notable castle ruins, spanning periods from the Middle Ages onward. The author presents an exploration of the historical significance of these castles, their role in cultural events, and the stories of the people who built,… occupied, and besieged them. Castles emerge in these pages as symbols of the conflicts that shaped Britain's landscape, and within these conflicts, the tumultuous personal narratives of Britain's history come to life. Insightful and heavily illustrated, this book offers both a historical and human angle on some of Britain's most impressive landmarks. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
