Schumacher war 18 Jahre lang Rektor der Fürstenschule Grimma. (.) Schumacher ging nach seinen Wittenberger Studien nach Dresden, wo er Hauslehrer der Söhne des Archivars Johann Friedrich Reinhard wurde. 1710 wurde er Konrektor der kurfürstlichen Landesschule in Grimma und erwarb sich am 30. April 1711 in Wittenberg den akademischen Grad eines Magisters der Philosophie. Am 26. August 1736 löste er den gesundheitlich angeschlagenen Rektor der Bildungseinrichtung in Grimma Georg Ermel ab. Als langjähriger Rektor der Fürstenschule Grimma hat Schumacher sich zahlreiche Verdienste als sächsischer Pädagoge bei der Bildung und der sächsischen Geschichtsschreibung erworben." (Wikipedia). This was for the grade of a degree in philosophy at the University of Lund, and is typical of the Eighteenth century style of academic disputation / dissertation. Hardback with red cloth spine and marbled boards. Small paper label with hand written title to it. This has monogrammed initials written in calligraphy. It appears to be WB, but could be something else (W.E.)? Recent green end papers. The title page has a touch of darkening to the edges, and slight damage where green end paper has stuck to it.
