Excised from Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice", one of 48 separate serialized subscription offerings issued under the title "The Works of Shakspere (sic) Edited by Charles Knight". Artist ("PinxT (Pinxit), meaning "the work of") was Sir John Gilbert, A.R.A.; the engraver was G. Greatbach. Scene for the engraving is "Shylock After the Trial", from Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice". Very Good, with just moderate foxing, faint stains, and a 2" closed tear with minor chips at bottom edge. See scan. LNG3.
