Incominciň nell'ombreggiare a chiaroscuro all'acquarella e ne riscosse approvazione e vantaggio. Marco in sei tavole in fol. In-folio oblong (40 x 27 cm) (14) (6) c. (of plate) to the internal frontispiece of the Basilica. Text in Italian and French. Half parchment with marbled paper plates. Some flowering. Almost invisible gora at the lateral white margins. Album of a few but magnificent aquatints by Antonio Lazzari. Giannantonio Moschini reports in Dell'incisione in Venezia: Antonio Lazzari, son of Biagio and Angela Franchin, was born in Mestre on the nineteenth day of September in the year 1798. Very young he was sent to Venice so that he could apply himself to the studies that are suitable for whoever wants to become a good architect and engineer: if not that the death of his father forced him to take up another career that would bring him more rapid gain. As a young genius as he really was, and called by nature to deal with fine arts, he could not have easily more valiant tutors. Mazzani in the ornamentation, Selva in the civil architecture, Davide Rossi in the perspective, Matteini in the elements of the figure, Cipriani in the intaglio, were the professors who praised Lazzari, the lauder of each of them. chiaroscuro all'acquarella and received approval and advantage. Afterwards he was employed for some time in the office of the engineer at our Congregation Munic ipale, and diligently drew, also supervised the work that had to be carried out. When he reached the twenty-seventh year of age, he wanted to devote himself to etching with aquatint, whose method increasingly weakened his health and hastened his death which he kidnapped on the tenth day of November of the year 1834. Hot, tireless, he never rested from work , and in his own painful agonies he wanted to occupy himself with that art which was rightly so dear to him, an art which here very much obliged him to become a master of himself. Above all, he liked to take up the topics of our city, and we have two hundred views on paper, of various formats. One especially admires the overcome difficulty of the degradation of the shadows. But the work from which he seemed to have the most widespread and clear fame was the Collection which he aimed to give us of our principal temples. He had begun with that of San Marco, to which the temples of the Salute, of San Giorgio Maggiore, of the Redentore were first to follow. He had given the church of s. Marco in six plates in fol. Traverso, there is a summary description by Giuseppe Piazza. The intelligent lord Alessandro Zanetti had praised it in the Giornale delle Belle Arti e di Tecnologia. He praised them as being very simple in the parties of light, clear, vigorous, harmonious on the whole, degraded with studious accuracy, diligent and not fantastic in the lines, not capricious, patiently executed. 19mo secolo.
